Yeah, I was nodding along in agreement for the first half... it kind of stinks to deal with Webhooks simply because they are not terribly robust or fault tolerant by default... but the recommendations to go ahead and use Zapier (which is just... webhooks) or build a massive development platform into my application just for integrations does not feel like a realistic alternative.

Now, if someone made some sort of universal service bus system? That might be a thing. (But it would also end up basically being Zapier anyways, right?) But... no. This article is a mess.
