Yeah, I mean… I always abstract the code in a way that if the underlying implementation were to change, we don’t really lose much. I keep getting asked to do systems that put a modern app on top of an AS/400 or similar, with future plans to migrate all of the data “at some future date” to the modern infrastructure, so this is a pattern I am very familiar with. :D
