When I first got my Apple Watch (Series 2) I had won it in a contest so I was someone who didn't seek it out. Within a day I absolutely loved it. Within a few weeks it was driving me nuts. Then I went on a campaign to minimize the alerts on the watch to the bare minimum of "what is actually important?" and then minimized what was allowed to make my phone beep/vibrate, and cut a *bit* what could show a banner, and then I totally fell in love with the Watch again. Once it stopped annoying me with anything but truly urgent stuff, it became a super-valuable tool for me.

That said...

... I have zero reason to upgrade because I don't find the new features compelling, when I exercise the basic functionality on Series 2 is enough to meet my needs. the new features and functionality since Series 2 don't amaze me. I don't want another cell phone plan. I will always want to have my phone with me everywhere I go. The bigger screen is nice but my use style doesn't need it.

Only thing for me is battery. I never minded charging when I sleep, but at 4 years old, my Series 2 now doesn't make it through a full day, especially if I do a workout or use GPS. but the problem isn't that the battery life wasn't enough as-designed, it's that the battery has lost its umph after 4 years of nightly charges.

So yeah, one day I'll get a new Watch and it will likely be the cheapest in Apple's lineup when I make my purchase.
