There is a huge difference between "senior developer" and "person with a lot of time as a developer on their resume". Some people have a year of experience and have "senior developer" mindset though they may lack the knowledge that comes with more experience. A lot more people have a decade or two decades of resume experience and quite literally cannot code up FizzBuzz or an equivalent. Unfortunately our industry does a really good job at allowing those folks to masquerade as senior developers... and worse, graduate to "architects". The absolutely most dangerous person to a project, besides a bad PM, is a "senior developer" who isn't one, they absolutely destroy projects.
