The tax code is available online for free too, yet millions of people and organizations hand their taxes to a CPA and trust that CPA to do things right, and if that person doesn't do their taxes right, they still get the pain of the audit.

The information to change your oil is in the free user manual that came with your car, but most folks trust a mechanic to do their oil changes without validating that.'

I could go on and on, but my point is clear: people pay professionals and experts and trust those folks to do the job right.

Your attitude that "they should know better because the information is available" is a total and complete denial of reality and it's... to put it nicely... offensive.

I'm ignoring any further responses from you, you just want to be a pedant, and you are a total time waster. You want to stand on your hill and shout "they should know better and if they don't they deserve to be hurt" is horrific. And it still doesn't help the people at these companies who have no control over the decision makers. The day to day workers are the ones who suffer, and instead of having some empathy and sympathy for them, you just want to laugh at them. That's a really ugly attitude. Enjoy the solitude on your mountain of smugness, taking solace in the holiness of the wind that you pass.
