It is very difficult to understand why an IT pro of any kind is doing large amounts of their job not plugged into a fullsized keyboard, monitor (either a very large monitor or 2+ smaller ones), and dedicated pointing device. The work involves too much typing and pointing and juggling of windows on the screen and situations like documentation/instructions on the left and a terminal window or IDE or web browser on the right, etc. to be done effectively with a single small screen and a laptop keyboard. Can you do the work like this? Yeah, you can. I travel a fair amount for my job and when I'm on the road I have to work like this. But if someone is working like this on a consistent basis... it's like an athlete choosing to wear flip flops to a game because they are comfy, they are severely hurting their ability to succeed.
