I was talking to a neighbor about this yesterday, there *are* jobs where people get “written up” and it’s more of a merit/demerit point system (or driver’s license), where it’s like 1 point for showing up late, 5 points for an absence without a doctor’s note, 3 points for your cash register being short more than a dollar, or whatever… and points fall over at a regular pace, and if you acquire more than a certain number of points, you get terminated. But the jobs that do that are typically retail and similar jobs that neither you nor I are working at or referring to. That said, those jobs tend to have a Panopticon feel to them, where you are always under the microscope, and that isn’t an environment I personally thrive in, nor do I want to create/enforce it for the team I manage either.
