I think the underlying issue is that most IDs come from a database which is just using a numeric sequence. And yes, I agree, I have shifted - hard - to GUIDs for my PKs, or at the very least, a GUID "public ID" vs. a numeric internal ID depending on the case. But more and more... just using GUIDs for my PKs.
