I say this as someone who feels like they were dragged, kicking and screaming, into the Apple ecosystem due to the departure of alternatives (Palm, RIM, Microsoft) and Android being even more painful than Apple... hardly an Apple fan here.

If I read this correctly, your anger here is that a company isn't providing you repair options for a piece of equipment that is more than 5 years old, and outside of its warranty period? And because of this Apple is a company that has lost its way? And that this company is just a greedy, dirty company for not catering to your needs?
